The Parliament Of Tanzania New Vacancy, May 2022 was established before independence in 1926 as Legislative Council of Tanzania Mainland, then known as Tanganyika. The Legislative Council was established under Tanganyika Legislative Council Order and Council, a law enacted by the British Parliament. The law was gazetted in Tanganyika on 18th June 1926 and the council was launched in Dar es Salaam on 7th December 1926 under the chairmanship of the Governor of Tanganyika, Sir. Donald Cameron. The council had 20 members all appointed by the Governor. The Vision “An Effective and responsive people’s Parliament”. The Mission “To be the Voice of the People by effectively fulfilling our constitutional Mandate of Representation, legislation, and overseeing the function of the Executive in order to ensure continued improvement of peoples lives under conditions of freedom, peace, equity and unity. Tanzania Parliament derives its mandate and functions from the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania of 1977, the laws of Tanzania and its own rules of procedure.
